SLC6A19, solute carrier family 6 member 19, alias HND, B0AT1. it is a transmembrane protein expressed in human intestinal and renal epithelial cells and is responsible for the translocation of neutral amino acids from the extracellular to the intracellular compartments.
The mechanism of action of SLC6A19 is the uptake of amino acids from the intestinal tract and their reabsorption in the kidneys through active transport. Mutations in this gene may lead to Hartnup disease, an inherited disorder that presents with symptoms such as pellagra, cerebellar ataxia, and psychosis. SLC6A19 also plays an important role in amino acid homeostasis, diabetes mellitus, and weight control. Expression and function in intestinal cells are dependent on the presence of the accessory protein angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2), which is also one of the cellular receptors for SARS-CoV-2.
SLC6A19 Antibody (CSB-PA731656LA01HU)
Validated Data
IHC image of CSB-PA731656LA01HU diluted at 1:300 and staining in paraffin-embedded human small intestine tissue performed on a Leica BondTM system. After dewaxing and hydration, antigen retrieval was mediated by high pressure in a citrate buffer (pH 6.0). Section was blocked with 10% normal goat serum 30min at RT. Then primary antibody (1% BSA) was incubated at 4°C overnight. The primary is detected by a biotinylated secondary antibody and visualized using an HRP conjugated SP system.

Immunofluorescence staining of Hela cells with CSB-PA731656LA01HU at 1:100, counter-stained with DAPI. The cells were fixed in 4% formaldehyde, permeabilized using 0.2% Triton X-100 and blocked in 10% normal Goat Serum. The cells were then incubated with the antibody overnight at 4°C. The secondary antibody was Alexa Fluor 488-congugated AffiniPure Goat Anti-Rabbit IgG(H+L).
