USP11, ubiquitin-specific peptidase 11, also known as UHX1. It is encoded by the human USP11 gene, which is located at position p11.23 on the X chromosome. USP11 is a deubiquitinating enzyme belonging to the family of cysteine proteases, which is capable of specifically cleaving ubiquitin from ubiquitin-conjugated protein substrates, thereby regulating protein stability and function.
Its mechanism of action involves the deubiquitination of a variety of protein substrates, including DNA repair proteins, viral RNA replication-associated proteins, and proteins associated with the TGFβ and NF-κB signaling pathways, etc.
USP11 plays an important role in the regulation of the stability and function of numerous proteins in the cell, which is involved in the development of diseases, including tumors and viral diseases. USP11 also participates in the regulation of DNA repair and cell proliferation and cell death, among other key cellular processes.
