USP13, ubiquitin-specific peptidase 13, alias ISOT3, IsoT-3. USP13 is encoded by the human USP13 gene, which is located on chromosome 3 in the q26.33 region.
USP13 is a deubiquitinating enzyme belonging to the cysteine protease superfamily, which inhibits substrate ubiquitin-proteasome pathway degradation by mediating the process of substrate deubiquitination and thus participates in the regulation of a variety of physiological processes such as cell cycle, autophagy, and natural immunity.
USP13 plays an important role in maintaining intracellular protein homeostasis, regulating cellular metabolism and coping with DNA damage. Its aberrant expression or dysfunction is associated with the development of many diseases, especially malignant tumors, and is a potential target for research and treatment of related diseases.
