YLPM1, also known as ZAP3, ZAP113, PPP1R169, or C14orf170, is a member of the YLP motif protein family. The YLPM1 gene is located in the q24.3 region of chromosome 14, has nine transcripts (splice variants), and 210 homologous genes. The YLPM1 protein is widely expressed in various tissues, with particularly high expression levels in the testes and brain. The mechanism of action of YLPM1 involves RNA binding activity, is predicted to participate in the regulation of telomere maintenance, and acts upstream or within the negative regulation of RNA polymerase II transcription, primarily located in the cytoplasmic sol and nuclear speckles. YLPM1 is associated with various diseases, including Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis, Type 6A, and is considered a potential tumor suppressor gene in Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumors (GIST).
