HSPA14, heat shock protein family A (Hsp70) member 14, alias HSP70-4, HSP70L1, MSANTD7, is a heat shock protein that is widely expressed in human cells and belongs to the Hsp70 family.
HSPA14 has been implicated in a variety of biological processes including cellular responses to unfolded proteins, chaperone cofactor-dependent protein refolding, and protein refolding. folding, and protein refolding. Its main role is to act as a molecular chaperone, participating in the correct folding of proteins, preventing the aggregation of misfolded proteins, and assisting in protein degradation. It promotes the correct folding and refolding of proteins by binding ATP and unfolded or misfolded proteins. HSPA14 functions in the cytoplasm and can be released outside the cell during cellular stress.
In addition, HSPA14 is associated with a number of diseases, such as autoimmune atherosclerosis and tetralogy of Fallot.
