KDM4C

KDM4C, also known as lysine demethylase 4C, is commonly referred to as JMJD2C. This protein plays a critical role in epigenetic regulation by removing methyl groups from histone H3 lysine 9 (H3K9) and H3K36. It is involved in various cellular processes such as transcription activation. KDM4C operates through its Jumonji catalytic domain and participates in signaling pathways related to cell growth and differentiation.
Aberrant expression of KDM4C has been associated with multiple diseases, particularly cancers including prostate and breast cancer. Due to its significant role, KDM4C has emerged as a promising target in drug development. Currently, research is underway to design inhibitors that can specifically target this protein, aiming to provide new therapeutic strategies for related diseases.
