NCBP2

NCBP2, or nuclear cap-binding protein subunit 2, is also known as CBC2, CBP20, and NIP1. It is a human genetically encoded protein that is part of the nuclear cap-binding protein complex (CBC), a complex that binds to the monomethylated 5' cap structure of nascent precursor mRNAs. NCBP2 contains the RNP structural domain commonly found in RNA-binding proteins and has cap-binding activity. It plays a role in pre-mRNA splicing, 3' end processing, RNA nuclear export and nonsense-mediated mRNA decay.
In addition, NCBP2 is involved in mRNA export and facilitates mRNA transport from the nucleus to the cytoplasm by interacting with ALYREF/THOC4/ALY. NCBP2 is biologically important for processes such as regulation of gene expression, mRNA processing and transport.
