NELL2

NELL2, also known as Neural EGFL like 2, encodes a protein called Neural EGFL-like protein 2. It is also commonly referred to as NEL-like protein 2. This protein contains epidermal growth factor (EGF)-like repeats and plays a role in the development and maintenance of the nervous system. It is involved in cell adhesion and migration through interaction with extracellular matrix components.
In terms of signaling pathways, NELL2 is associated with the Wnt signaling pathway, which is crucial for cell proliferation and differentiation. Dysregulation of NELL2 has been linked to neurological disorders such as Alzheimer's disease. Currently, research is ongoing to explore its potential as a therapeutic target, but there are no approved drugs specifically targeting NELL2 at present.
