OR1A1

OR1A1 encodes the Olfactory receptor 1A1 protein. Also known as hOR17-4, it belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor superfamily. Its mechanism involves binding to odorant molecules, activating a signaling cascade through G-proteins that leads to nerve impulse generation. It participates in the olfactory transduction pathway.
Regarding diseases, abnormal OR1A1 function may be related to olfactory disorders. In drug R & D, understanding its structure and function could potentially lead to the development of therapies for olfactory-related conditions, though current progress is limited and more research is needed.
