PCDH10 encodes protocadherin-10, a member of the non-clustered protocadherin family involved in cell adhesion and signaling. Common aliases include OL-PCDH and PCDH10A. It mediates calcium-dependent cell-cell interactions, regulating embryonic development and tissue organization by modulating cytoskeletal dynamics and intracellular signaling cascades.
PCDH10 functions in Wnt/β-catenin and PI3K/Akt pathways, acting as a tumor suppressor by inhibiting cell proliferation and migration. Dysregulation is linked to various cancers, including gastric, breast, and colorectal malignancies, often via promoter methylation. Preclinical studies explore demethylating agents to restore its expression, though no targeted drugs are currently in clinical trials.
