PDC

PDC, full name pyruvate dehydrogenase complex. It is a key enzyme complex in mitochondria, catalyzing pyruvate conversion to acetyl-CoA and linking glycolysis to the tricarboxylic acid cycle, providing cellular energy. PDC dysfunction causes glucose metabolism disorders, leading to lactic acidosis, neuromuscular and mitochondrial diseases. PDC-targeted enzyme replacement therapies are under preclinical research.
