PIK3CG, the catalytic subunit γ of phosphatidylinositol-4,5-bisphosphate 3-kinase, alias PI3Kγ, p110γ, p120-PI3K, and others. It is a protein encoded by the PIK3CG gene and belongs to one of the class I catalytic subunits of the phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K) family.PIK3CG is expressed in a wide range of cell types, and is particularly highly expressed in immune cells. PIK3CG is expressed in a variety of cell types, especially in immune cells, and its mechanism of action is to form the PI3K complex by binding to the p85 regulatory subunit, which then catalyzes the conversion of phosphatidylinositol-4,5-bisphosphate (PIP2) to phosphatidylinositol-3,4,5-trisphosphate (PIP3), a process that plays a key role in cellular signaling.
The significance of PIK3CG is very broad in biology, and it participates in the regulation of a variety of cellular physiological processes, including cell growth, survival, metabolism, and cellular growth. Abnormal function of PIK3CG has been associated with a variety of diseases, especially with the development of immune-related diseases and cancer. For example, mutations or dysregulated expression of PIK3CG may affect the activation and function of immune cells, which in turn may affect inflammatory responses and autoimmune diseases. In addition, aberrant activation of PIK3CG in certain cancers may promote tumor cell proliferation, invasion and metastasis. Therefore, PIK3CG is a potential target in drug development and disease treatment.
