SEMA4A

The SEMA4A gene encodes the Semaphorin-4A protein, also known as Sema4A. This protein plays a crucial role in priming antigen-specific T-cells and promoting differentiation of Th1 T-helper cells, thereby contributing to adaptive immunity. SEMA4A interacts with Plexin D1 receptor, activating the Akt pathway in lung fibroblasts. Its dysregulation is implicated in Th17 cell-mediated neuroinflammation and various diseases, including cancer and fibrosis. Research on SEMA4A signaling pathways has opened avenues for potential therapeutic targets in drug development.
