SLITRK6

SLITRK6, a member of the SLIT and NTRK-like family, is a membrane protein primarily expressed in nerve tissue. It contains leucine-rich repeat sequences and a C-terminal region homologous to neurotrophic factor receptors. SLITRK6 is essential for neurite growth regulation and maintenance of normal auditory and visual functions. Its mechanism may include neurite guidance and intercellular communication, similar to other SLITRK family members. SLITRK6 mutations are associated with myopia and deafness, and its high expression in brain tumors suggests a role in nervous system diseases.
