USP25

USP25, ubiquitin-specific peptidase 25, alias USP21, is a deubiquitinating enzyme that belongs to the USP subfamily of DUB. USP25 is widely expressed in human cells, especially in cardiac and skeletal muscle, and is up-regulated during the process of musculogenesis.
The mechanism of action of USP25 is that it binds directly to target proteins through its USP structural domain, removes the K48 ubiquitin chain, and prevents degradation by the proteasome pathway, thereby maintaining protein stability.
USP25 is involved in the regulation of a variety of cellular processes, including protein stability, cell signaling, and programmed cell death. It has been associated with a variety of diseases, including cancer, neurodegenerative diseases, cardiovascular diseases, and others.
