ADCY7

ADCY7, adenylate cyclase 7, alias AC7.ADCY7 is encoded by the human ADCY7 gene, which is located on chromosome 16 in the q12.1 region.ADCY7 is a membrane-bound adenylate cyclase that catalyzes the formation of cyclic AMP from ATP and can be inhibited by calcium.ADCY7 is a member of the class 4/guanosine cyclase family of adenylate cyclases and is characterized by twelve transmembrane structural domains in its sequence.
ADCY7 plays an important role in cellular signaling, particularly in cAMP biosynthesis, adenylate cyclase activation, and intracellular signal transduction cascades. Aberrant ADCY7 expression has been associated with a variety of diseases, including acute myeloid leukemia (AML), where its expression level is negatively correlated with the overall survival of AML patients. ADCY7 supports AML cell growth by inhibiting apoptosis and may be involved in the development of leukemia by affecting c-Myc expression.
