ATRX

ATRX, also known as alpha thalassemia/mental retardation syndrome X-linked, is a protein-coding gene. The corresponding protein is Alpha-thalassemia mental retardation syndrome X-linked protein, commonly known as ATRX. It functions in chromatin remodeling and gene regulation. ATRX is involved in the Fanconi anemia pathway and homologous recombination.
Mutations in ATRX are associated with alpha-thalassemia/mental retardation syndrome. In drug development, research is focusing on targeting the ATRX-related pathways to treat cancers with ATRX mutations, aiming to restore normal chromatin function and gene expression.
