BMAL1

BMAL1, also known as brain and muscle ARNT - like 1 protein, is also commonly called ARNTL. It is a core component of the mammalian circadian clock. BMAL1 forms a heterodimer with CLOCK, which binds to E - box elements in the promoter regions of target genes, activating their transcription. This mechanism is crucial for regulating various physiological processes on a daily cycle.
The BMAL1 - related signaling pathway is mainly the circadian rhythm pathway. Dysregulation of BMAL1 has been associated with multiple diseases, such as sleep disorders, metabolic syndromes, and some types of cancers. Currently, research on drugs targeting BMAL1 is in the early stage, aiming to develop therapies to correct circadian rhythm disorders.
