CDR2

CDR2 (cerebellar degeneration-related protein 2) is a cytoplasmic RNA-binding protein highly expressed in cerebellar Purkinje cells. It modulates RNA stability and translation, supporting neuronal function and survival through RNA metabolic pathways. No well-defined common aliases exist beyond its full name, though it is sometimes referenced in context with paraneoplastic antigens.
Aberrant targeting of CDR2 by autoantibodies links to paraneoplastic cerebellar degeneration (PCD), often associated with Hodgkin lymphoma. These autoantibodies trigger immune-mediated destruction of Purkinje cells, leading to ataxia. Current treatments focus on immunosuppression and tumor removal; targeted therapies against CDR2-specific autoimmunity remain in preclinical stages.
