CYP4V2, a member of the cytochrome P450 family 4 subfamily V, is a monooxygenase that belongs to the cytochrome P450 superfamily and is mainly localized in the endoplasmic reticulum. It plays an important role in fatty acid metabolism in the eye, especially in the ω-hydroxylation of polyunsaturated fatty acids such as docosahexanoic acid DHA and eicosapentaenoic acid EPA, which helps maintain the homeostasis of these important fatty acids in the retina. The function of CYP4V2 is crucial for maintaining retinal health and visual function. Although the signaling pathway directly involved in CYP4V2 has not been clearly identified, its role in fatty acid metabolism may be related to signaling pathways such as the retinol cycle and inflammatory response. CYP4V2 mutations are associated with Bietti crystalline retinal degeneration BCD, a disease affecting retinal pigment epithelial cells that leads to cholesterol accumulation and visual impairment.
The following CYP4V2 reagents supplied by CUSABIO are manufactured under a strict quality control system. Multiple applications have been validated and solid technical support is offered.
