DPEP3

DPEP3, also known as dipeptidyl peptidase 3, belongs to the metallopeptidase family and possesses a structure that features metal ion binding sites essential for its catalytic activity. This structure enables DPEP3 to specifically recognize and cleave peptide bonds. Functionally, DPEP3 plays a pivotal role in regulating the metabolism of peptide hormones and neuropeptides, modulating their biological activities through enzymatic cleavage. Additionally, DPEP3 is intimately associated with the development and progression of insulin resistance, diabetes, and their complications. Although the exact signaling pathways involving DPEP3 remain incompletely understood, research suggests that it may function through the modulation of G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) signaling pathways, interacting with other signaling molecules and transcription factors to regulate cellular functions and phenotypes. Further elucidation of the structure, function, and signaling pathways of DPEP3 holds promise for enhancing our understanding of its physiological and pathological roles, thereby opening new avenues for the treatment of related diseases.
