FOLR3

FOLR3, or folate receptor 3, is a cell surface glycoprotein encoded by the FOLR3 gene, mainly expressed on cancer cells and some normal tissues like the placenta and alveolar macrophages. It binds folic acid with high affinity, mediating its cellular uptake and transport, and can activate signaling pathways affecting cell proliferation and survival. High FOLR3 expression is often associated with poor tumor prognosis, making it a potential cancer treatment target.
