GUK1

GUK1, also known as Guanylate Kinase 1, is an enzyme that plays a crucial role in the regulation of guanine nucleotides supply to signal transduction pathways. It catalyzes the transfer of a phosphate group from ATP to guanosine monophosphate (GMP) to form guanosine diphosphate (GDP), which is essential for cellular processes. GUK1 is involved in various signaling pathways, including those related to cancer metabolism. In lung cancer, GUK1 has been identified as a metabolic enzyme that enhances tumor cell growth, particularly in cases with ALK gene alterations. Research suggests that targeting GUK1 could be a promising strategy for cancer therapy development.
