IKZF3

IKZF3, also known as IKAROS family zinc finger protein 3, has alternative names such as AIO, IMD84, AIOLOS, and ZNFN1A3. As a transcription factor, IKZF3 binds to DNA through its zinc finger domain, participating in the development of lymphocytes and regulating the proliferation and differentiation of B lymphocytes. IKZF3 can participate in chromatin remodeling, forming Ikaros homodimers, Ikaros/Aiolos heterodimers, and Aiolos homodimers, thereby modulating gene expression. IKZF3 plays multifaceted roles in various hematopoietic and immune cells, particularly in the differentiation and maturation of B lymphocytes, mediating the response of activated B lymphocytes to stimuli and B cell proliferation. Dysfunction of IKZF3 is associated with the pathological processes of multiple diseases, including malignant tumors, autoimmune diseases, and immunodeficiencies. Overexpression of IKZF3 in multiple myeloma leads to extensive proliferation of malignant plasma cells.
