IL17RB, interleukin 17 receptor B", alias IL-17RB. it is a type I transmembrane protein, a member of the IL-17 receptor family, encoded by a gene in the human cell itself.The mechanism of action of IL17RB involves binding to a specific ligand, such as IL-25 (also known as IL-17E), and this binding activates a downstream signaling pathways.IL17RB, together with IL-17RA, is involved in the formation of a functional receptor complex that is essential for IL-25 signaling.IL17RB activates intracellular signaling pathways by binding to ligands through its extracellular fibronectin type III structural domain and by signaling through its cytoplasmic SEFIR structural domain.

IL17RB is of biological significance is mainly reflected in its involvement in the regulation of immune responses and inflammatory processes. As one of the receptors for IL-25, IL17RB plays an important role in the Th2-type immune response and influences the pathology of allergic diseases such as asthma and atopic dermatitis. In addition, IL17RB has been associated with tumor development, e.g., in breast cancer, activation of the IL17RB signaling pathway may promote tumor cell proliferation and survival, and thus targeting the IL17RB signaling pathway may be a potential therapeutic strategy to inhibit this disease.IL17RB activity has also been associated with the production of a variety of cytokines and chemokines through activation of signals such as MAPK, NF-κB, and C/EBPs signaling pathways, which in turn affects the host immune response.
