Kallikrein‑related peptidase 13, aliased KLK‑L4, is a serine protease expressed in breast, ovary and respiratory mucosa. It drives extracellular‑matrix remodeling and mediates mucosal host defence via viral‑spike protein cleavage. Dysregulated KLK13 is detected in periodontitis, Netherton syndrome, ovarian and breast malignancies.
No approved therapeutics are available for KLK13. Researches are confined to pre‑clinical cellular and tissue‑sample analysis. No therapeutic candidates have moved forward to animal efficacy tests or clinical trial pipelines.
