KLK14

Kallikrein‑related peptidase 14, also known as KLK‑L6, is a secreted serine protease highly expressed in human skin. It contributes to stratum corneum desquamation and cutaneous wound repair, cleaving cell‑adhesion molecules and extracellular matrix substrates to maintain intact skin barrier.
KLK14 dysfunction is closely linked to Netherton syndrome, and its expression shifts in breast cancer and prostate cancer for pathological specimen evaluation. Drug development for KLK14 remains pre‑clinical. Several protease inhibitors have completed in‑vitro assays on tumor cell lines, while in‑vivo animal efficacy tests are absent. No candidates advance into clinical trials and no marketed targeted therapeutics are available.
