KPNB1

KPNB1 encodes the protein Karyopherin subunit beta-1. Commonly known as Importin-β1, it plays a crucial role in nuclear import. It binds to cargo proteins containing nuclear localization signals (NLSs) either directly or via adaptor proteins like Importin-α, facilitating their transport through the nuclear pore complex. It is involved in the classical nuclear import signal pathway.
Dysregulation of KPNB1 has been linked to various diseases including cancer, as it can promote the nuclear import of oncoproteins. In drug development, there is ongoing research to target KPNB1 - mediated nuclear import for potential anti - cancer therapies, aiming to block the abnormal nuclear entry of proteins driving tumor progression.

IHC image of CSB-PA622929LA01HU diluted at 1:200 and staining in paraffin-embedded human cervical cancer performed on a Leica BondTM system. After dewaxing and hydration, antigen retrieval was mediated by high pressure in a citrate buffer (pH 6.0). Section was blocked with 10% normal goat serum 30min at RT. Then primary antibody (1% BSA) was incubated at 4°C overnight. The primary is detected by a biotinylated secondary antibody and visualized using an HRP conjugated SP system.
