LIFR

The leukemia inhibitory factor receptor consists of a low-affinity receptor LIFR and a high-affinity receptor gp130 (CD130), of which the low-affinity receptor LIFR is a member of the type I cytokine receptor superfamily.

LIFR is widely distributed, such as adipocytes, osteoblasts, nerve cells, embryonic cancer cells, embryonic stem cells, M1 leukemia cells, and activated macrophages, etc. The number of LIFR distribution varies with target cells. LIF exerts its function through the interaction between LIFR and gp130, and its mechanism is similar to the mode of action between the low-affinity subunit of the interleukin-6 receptor and gp130. When LIF binds to its receptor, it induces a conformational change of the receptor, exposing some specific determinants to be recognized by gp130, which in turn causes the conformational change of gp130, and transmits LIF signal to produce biological effects. However, some studies have shown that the binding of LIF to LIFR is not competitively inhibited by interleukin-6.
