LPCAT3

LPCAT3 encodes the enzyme lysophosphatidylcholine acyltransferase 3, also known as membrane-bound O-acyltransferase domain-containing protein 7 (MBOAT7). This protein is involved in the remodeling of phosphatidylcholine through the Lands cycle. It catalyzes the transfer of an acyl group to lysophosphatidylcholine, thereby influencing membrane lipid composition.
LPCAT3 is linked to the metabolism of lipids and the regulation of insulin signaling pathways. Abnormalities in LPCAT3 are associated with non - alcoholic fatty liver disease and insulin resistance. Currently, research is underway to develop drugs targeting LPCAT3 to treat lipid - related metabolic disorders, aiming to improve liver function and metabolic health.
