LRIG1 encodes Leucine-rich repeats and immunoglobulin-like domains protein 1, also known as Leukocyte surface antigen L6H, which is a transmembrane protein. LRIG1 negatively regulates receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs) such as EGFR. It binds to RTKs and promotes their ubiquitination and degradation, thereby inhibiting the activation of downstream signaling pathways.
LRIG1 is involved in the EGFR signaling pathway. Dysregulation of LRIG1 is associated with various diseases, including multiple types of cancer. In drug research, LRIG1 is considered a potential therapeutic target. Some studies are exploring agents that can modulate its function to treat diseases related to abnormal RTK activation.
