OLFML3

OLFML3, olfactory regulator-like protein 3, alias OLF44, HNOEL-iso.OLFML3 is encoded by the human OLFML3 gene, which is located on chromosome 1 in the p13.2 region.
OLFML3 is a secreted extracellular matrix glycoprotein with a C-terminal OLF structural domain that contributes to protein-protein interactions, cell adhesion and intercellular interactions. It acts both as a skeletal protein, recruiting bone morphogenetic protein 1 to its substrate Chordin, and as a vascular tissue remodeling agent with pro-angiogenic properties.
OLFML3 plays a role in a variety of physiological processes, including regulation of the cell cycle, oncogenesis, and modulation of important signaling pathways such as Notch or Wnt, as well as a role in embryonic pattern formation. OLFML3 affects angiogenesis and functions as a novel pro-angiogenic factor under both pathological and normal conditions. OLFML3 may be involved in the developmental and functional organization of the central nervous system and hematopoietic system.
