PCIF1

PCIF1, also known as phosphorylated CTD interacting factor 1 or CAPAM, is a nuclear protein that serves as the sole methyltransferase for N6,2-O-dimethyladenosine (m6Am) modification in mammals. This modification occurs at the 5' end of mRNA and plays a crucial role in regulating mRNA stability, transcription, and translation. PCIF1 interacts with the phosphorylated C-terminal domain (CTD) of RNA polymerase II, influencing its activity and transcriptional output. It is associated with various diseases, including cancer, viral infections, and endocrine disorders, and its dysregulation may contribute to tumor progression and immune evasion.
