SCARB2

SCARB2, Lysosome membrane protein 2, also known as AMRF, EPM4, LGP85, CD36L2, HLGP85, LIMP-2, LIMPII, SR-BII. SCARB2 is encoded by the human SCARB2 gene, which is located on chromosome 4.
SCARB2 is a type III transmembrane glycoprotein located primarily on the restriction membranes of lysosomes and endosomes. SCARB2 is involved in membrane trafficking and reorganization of the endosomal/lysosomal compartments, and is essential for the translocation of β-glucocerebrosidase from the endoplasmic reticulum to the lysosome.
SCARB2 plays roles in a variety of physiological and pathological processes, including involvement in cell membrane transport processes, association with viruses responsible for hand-foot-and-mouth disease, such as enterovirus 71 and Coxsackievirus A16 infection, and with lysosomal cholesterol export during autophagy.
