SLAMF7, also known as CRACC, CS1 or CD319, is expressed on macrophages and tumor cells. In contrast to most SLAM receptor functions, SLAMF7-mediated phagocytosis is independent of the signal transduction lymphocyte activation molecule-associated protein (SAP) adapter. Instead, it relies on the ability of SLAMF7 to interact with the integrin Mac-1 and utilize signals involving immunoreceptor tyrosine-based activation motifs.
