SV2C

Synaptic vesicle glycoprotein 2C (SV2C), a transmembrane member of the SV2 family, localizes to neuronal synaptic vesicles. Common aliases include SV2C and synaptic vesicle protein 2C. It regulates synaptic vesicle exocytosis and neurotransmitter release by modulating vesicle trafficking and fusion with the presynaptic membrane, interacting with key synaptic proteins to maintain synaptic function.
Dysregulation of SV2C is linked to neurological disorders like epilepsy and schizophrenia, where impaired synaptic transmission is a hallmark. While SV2A (a family paralog) is targeted by antiepileptic drugs such as levetiracetam, SV2C remains understudied. Preclinical data support its potential as a therapeutic target for seizures, though no clinical drugs targeting SV2C are yet approved.

IHC image of CSB-PA022980LA01HU diluted at 1:300 and staining in paraffin-embedded human endometrial cancer performed on a Leica BondTM system. After dewaxing and hydration, antigen retrieval was mediated by high pressure in a citrate buffer (pH 6.0). Section was blocked with 10% normal goat serum 30min at RT. Then primary antibody (1% BSA) was incubated at 4°C overnight. The primary is detected by a biotinylated secondary antibody and visualized using an HRP conjugated SP system.
