TBX5

TBX5, or thymosin box transcription factor 5, is a transcription factor that is a member of the T-box family.TBX5 plays an important role in cardiac development, lung formation, and some tumourigenesis. Its mechanism of action involves binding to specific sites on DNA and regulating the expression of downstream genes.TBX5 regulates cell proliferation, differentiation, and migration by affecting a variety of signalling pathways including, but not limited to, PI3K-AKT and Wnt/β-catenin. Biologically, TBX5 is essential for normal heart and lung development, and its aberrant expression is associated with certain congenital heart and lung diseases. In addition, the role of TBX5 in a variety of tumours, including lung cancer, has received attention, and it may promote tumour development and metastasis by affecting the expression of genes related to the cell cycle and metastasis.
