The protein encoded by TDRD12, full name Tudor domain-containing protein 12, is an RNA-binding protein with no widely recognized common aliases. It participates in piRNA biogenesis, interacting with Piwi proteins to regulate transposon silencing in germ cells, maintaining genomic stability during spermatogenesis.
TDRD12 dysfunction may contribute to male infertility by disrupting piRNA-mediated gene silencing. Limited research exists on its role in specific signaling pathways or diseases beyond reproductive disorders. Currently, no drugs targeting TDRD12 are in clinical development.
