TPP1

TPP1, also known as Telomere Protection Protein 1, plays a pivotal role in telomere maintenance as a critical protein. Telomeres, the specialized structures at the ends of chromosomes, are essential for maintaining the stability and integrity of chromosomes. TPP1 protein interacts with other members of the telomere-binding protein complex (Shelterin) at the telomeres, collectively forming a protective "cap" that prevents telomeres from being erroneously recognized as DNA damage sites, thereby averting unnecessary DNA repair reactions. TPP1 is potentially involved in various signaling processes related to telomere maintenance. For instance, it may influence cellular aging and apoptosis processes by regulating telomere length. Additionally, TPP1 may interact with other cellular signaling molecules to jointly regulate cell proliferation, differentiation, and function.
