TRIM43

TRIM43 encodes tripartite motif-containing protein 43, a member of the TRIM family of E3 ubiquitin ligases characterized by RING, B-box, and coiled-coil domains. It mediates ubiquitination of target proteins, regulating processes like cell cycle progression and stress responses, and interacts with components of the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway and MAPK cascade.
Dysregulated TRIM43 expression is linked to colorectal and lung cancers, where it may promote tumorigenesis by modulating cell proliferation and apoptosis. Preclinical studies explore inhibiting its E3 ligase activity as a therapeutic strategy, though no TRIM43-targeted drugs have entered clinical trials to date.
