VPS37A

VPS37A encodes the Vacuolar Protein Sorting - Associated Protein 37A. Also known as Hrs - interacting protein 2, this protein is a key component of the Endosomal Sorting Complex Required for Transport (ESCRT) machinery. It participates in the sorting and degradation of ubiquitinated membrane proteins, ensuring proper endosomal trafficking.
VPS37A is involved in multiple signaling pathways such as TGF - β signaling. Alterations in VPS37A are associated with various diseases including neurodegenerative disorders and certain types of cancer. Currently, research is underway to develop drugs targeting the ESCRT pathway, aiming to correct dysfunctions related to VPS37A for therapeutic purposes.
