ABLIM1

ABLIM1 (Actin Binding LIM Protein 1), also known as LIMAB1, encodes a cytoskeletal protein with three LIM domains and an actin-binding region. It modulates actin filament organization and stability, interacting with F-actin to regulate cell shape, migration, and mechanical signaling. ABLIM1 participates in integrin-mediated focal adhesion dynamics and Rho GTPase signaling pathways, linking extracellular matrix cues to cytoskeletal remodeling.
Dysregulation of ABLIM1 is associated with neurodevelopmental disorders like autism spectrum disorder (ASD), where genetic variants have been identified in affected individuals. It also plays a role in maintaining muscular and renal cytoskeletal integrity, with its dysfunction linked to related pathologies. Currently, no direct therapeutic agents target ABLIM1, but actin-modulating compounds may offer indirect strategies for conditions tied to its abnormal function.
