ADM2

The protein encoded by ADM2, adrenomedullin 2, also known as intermedin, belongs to the calcitonin gene-related peptide family. It regulates vascular tone, angiogenesis, and inflammation through binding to calcitonin receptor-like receptor (CLR) and receptor activity-modifying proteins (RAMPs), activating cAMP/PKA and MAPK signaling pathways.
ADM2 is implicated in cardiovascular diseases like hypertension and heart failure, as well as metabolic disorders. Preclinical studies show its potential in treating pulmonary arterial hypertension and renal fibrosis, with ongoing research on peptide analogs to enhance stability and target specificity for therapeutic development.
