APLP2

APLP2 encodes the Amyloid-like Protein 2, also commonly known as APL-2. This protein is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein and is closely related to the amyloid precursor protein (APP). It plays a crucial role in neural development, synaptic function, and cell adhesion. It is involved in the Notch signaling pathway, which is essential for cell-fate determination.
Alterations in APLP2 have been associated with neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's.
