Aquaporin 5 (AQP5) is a water channel protein of the aquaporin family, full name Aquaporin-5 (no common aliases). It forms tetrameric membrane complexes, each monomer housing a selective pore for rapid osmotic water transport. Regulated by phosphorylation (e.g., PKA/PKC pathways), it is highly expressed in exocrine glands (salivary, lacrimal) and lung epithelia, controlling fluid secretion and lung hydration.
AQP5 dysregulation links to Sjögren’s syndrome (reduced expression causes dry mouth/eyes) and acute respiratory distress syndrome (impaired lung fluid balance). Overexpression in some breast cancers implicates it in tumor progression. Therapeutic research includes agonists for Sjögren’s and inhibitors for cancer; no targeted drugs are approved yet, but preclinical studies show promise.

AQP5 Recombinant Monoclonal Antibody (CSB-RA192672A0HU)
Validated Data
IHC image of CSB-RA192672A0HU diluted at 1:100 and staining in paraffin-embedded human salivary gland tissue performed on a Leica BondTM system. After dewaxing and hydration, antigen retrieval was mediated by high pressure in a citrate buffer (pH 6.0). Section was blocked with 10% normal goat serum 30min at RT. Then primary antibody (1% BSA) was incubated at 4°C overnight. The primary is detected by a Goat anti-rabbit polymer IgG labeled by HRP and visualized using 0.05% DAB.
