CASS4

CASS4 encodes the Cas scaffolding protein family member 4, also known as HEF1-associated protein p50. It functions as an adaptor protein, mediating protein-protein interactions through its SH3 domain and YXXP motifs, thereby regulating cell adhesion, migration, and cytoskeletal dynamics.
CASS4 participates in signaling pathways including Src, FAK, and integrin signaling cascades. Dysregulation is linked to cancer progression, particularly breast and colorectal cancers, via promotion of invasion and metastasis. Limited drug development targeting CASS4 is underway, with research focused on inhibiting its scaffolding function to disrupt tumor cell motility.
