CD73

CD73, encoded by the NT5E gene located on chromosome 6. It is a multifunctional transmembrane glycoprotein, widely expressed on the surface of cells in a variety of tissues, and exerts its biological functions mainly by catalysing the hydrolysis of 5'-AMP to adenosine.The mechanism of action of CD73 involves the modulation of immune responses and the promotion of tumour growth.The adenosine produced by its activity binds to the receptors on the surface of the immune cells and inhibits the activity of the immune cells, thus creating an immune-suppressive environment in the tumour microenvironment. In addition, CD73 is involved in regulating physiological activities such as maintenance of tissue barriers, hypoxia, local ischaemic preconditioning and inflammation.
