CFB

CFB, or complement factor B, is a serum protein integral to the human immune system. It is involved in the alternative pathways of the complement system, where it binds to complement factor D to form the Bb complex, which in turn cleaves C3 into C3a and C3b. Originating in the liver and encoded by the CFB gene, CFB plays a significant role in the body's defense against pathogens and is related to the development of various diseases, including atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome, autoimmune diseases, eye diseases, glomerulonephritis, and sickle cell anemia.
