CLPP

CLPP encodes Caseinolytic peptidase P, a mitochondrial matrix protease also known as CLP protease proteolytic subunit. It assembles into a hexameric complex that mediates ATP-dependent degradation of misfolded or oxidatively damaged proteins, critical for maintaining mitochondrial protein quality control and energy metabolism homeostasis.
This protease is integral to the mitochondrial unfolded protein response (UPRmt). Mutations in CLPP cause Perrault syndrome (characterized by sensorineural hearing loss and ovarian dysgenesis) and neurodegenerative disorders. Preclinical research explores small-molecule modulators to restore CLPP activity in disease models, though no targeted drugs have entered clinical trials yet.

IHC image of CSB-PA618094LA01HU diluted at 1:500 and staining in paraffin-embedded human prostate tissue performed on a Leica BondTM system. After dewaxing and hydration, antigen retrieval was mediated by high pressure in a citrate buffer (pH 6.0). Section was blocked with 10% normal goat serum 30min at RT. Then primary antibody (1% BSA) was incubated at 4°C overnight. The primary is detected by a biotinylated secondary antibody and visualized using an HRP conjugated SP system.
