ELN

ELN encodes the protein Elastin. It is also commonly known as Elastic fiber protein. Elastin is a crucial component of elastic fibers in connective tissues, endowing them with elasticity and resilience. It interacts with other extracellular matrix proteins, facilitating maintenance of tissue structure and function. The TGF - β signaling pathway is closely related to its synthesis and regulation.
Dysfunction of ELN can lead to various diseases such as supravalvular aortic stenosis and cutis laxa. In drug development, efforts are being made to develop therapies that target the regulation of ELN expression or the function of Elastin, aiming to treat these related disorders and improve patients' quality of life.
